Oceanic Sirius delivered by Ulstein

The latest vessel to join the 'high-end' 3D seismic research fleet, the $230m Oceanic Sirius, built at Ulstein in Norway, was delivered to a joint venture owning company between Eidesvik and French seismic firm CGGVeritas at the end of September. The 16-streamer vessel, with an SX120 hull form incorporating Ultsein's distinctive X-bow, is one of the most powerful seismic vessels built to date, with a static bollard pull of 190 tons giving sufficient power to tow streamers up to 9km long at separations of up to lOOmtr. The diesel-electric machinery, comprising six generators running on low-emission fuel, gives broad operational flexibility.
