It is with the greatest sadness that we have to report the death of Ian Middleton, former editor of this magazine and of the highly regarded Seatrade Week and subsequently the Tanker Trends newsletter.Ian started out as a reporter on the Sheffield Morning Telegraph in his native Yorkshire before being recruited by Seatrade. Over the next 30-odd years he travelled extensively within the global shipping world, earning universal respect as a principled reporter and expert commentator on the maritime business. His particular specialist fields were the complexities of-global trade, ship finance, container shipping, and the legal minefield of liner conferences and competition rules.
