ADM. KARL L. SCHULTZ took the helm as the 26th commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard June 1, relieving Adm. Paul F. Zukunft during a ceremony at Coast Guard headquarters in Washington, presided over by President Donald J. Trump. He now oversees 41,300 active-duty members, 6,200 Reservists, 8,650 civilian full-time employees, 31,000 civilian auxiliary volunteers and a service that has never been in more demand.
