Northrop Grumman's ALMDS Set for Deployment Overseas

The Airborne Laser Mine Detection System (ALMDS) is a pod-mounted sensor designed to be used by a helicopter to scan the water for surface and near-surface sea mines using a green laser and data-processing system so they can be neutralized before they can damage ships. The U.S. Navy is deploying the system on MH-60S Seahawk helicopters as a mission module of the mine countermeasures mission package for littoral combat ships (LCSs).
