Research Centers Promise a Break on Medical Patents in Developing Countries

More than a half-dozen major U.S. universities and institutes pledged last week to lean on biotech companies when licensing intellectual property to secure more favorable terms for countries in the developing world.rnHarvard, Yale, and Brown universities, the University of Pennsylvania, and the state universities of Oregon and Illinois, as well as the National Institutes of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, have signed the pledge, which is sponsored by the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM).
