On 27 October, the White House announced that President Barack Obama's daughters, Sasha and Malia, had received their shots against the H1N1 pandemic virus, at the same time that the vaccine became available to other children in Washington, D.C. No European leader has made a similar announcement, for a simple reason: Until recently, no European country had included healthy children in the priority groups targeted for vaccination.
