摘要

The Kawasaki Plant of Showa Denko K.K. (SDK) is located in Ohgi-machi in Kawasaki City: the core of the Keihin Costal Industrial Zone close to the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. Since 1931 when Showa Fertilizer Co., Ltd., one of the predecessors of SDK, successfully produced ammonia and ammonia sulfate for the first time in Japan by domestically-developed process called "Tokoshi process", the Kawasaki Plant has been producing ammonia, caustic soda, and other industrial chemicals as the base materials and chemical products of various kinds of industries.rnHydrogen which is a main raw material of ammonia (NH3) was obtained from the electrolysis of water at the beginning of foundation; however, it was obtained by the decomposition of petroleum products, such as naphtha, and natural gas with times. At present, the thermal decomposition of used plastics became a part of hydrogen source.
