摘要

What hampers the storage and segregation of CO_2 is the lack of technologies for separating and recovering CO_2. In Japan, development is underway to achieve these operations in a low-cost, high-efficiency manner, thereby enabling energy to be conserved.rnCurrently, carbon sequestration that mainly involves geological storage has been studied as a promising means of reducing CO_2 emissions. The development and improvement of CO_2 separation/recovery technologies have been underway to enable the technology to be introduced. The main methods that are being developed as separation/recovery technologies include the chemical absorption technique, membrane separation process and physical adsorption method. Such efforts are aimed especially at achieving a significant reduction in the recovery cost. To achieve the full-scale introduction of geological storage by 2020, RITE is trying to achieve around 2000 yen per ton of CO_2 by 2015, and ultimately, 1000 yen per ton of CO_2.
