A session symposium organized by the ILSI Japan-endowed chair 'Functional Food Genomics'

While the importance of scientifically verifying the cause-result relationship between functional food inges-tion and its physiological effect has been emphasized internationally, a number of companies as ILSI Japan members endowed a chair, named "Functional Food Genomics", to the Department of Applied Biological Chemistry, The University of Tokyo, in December 2003, in expectation of obtaining evidence-based information about why and because specific gene expressions take place in target body tissues after particular nutrients as well as functional foods are ingested.
