摘要

Gilles Deleuze's work, including his collaboration with Felix Guattari, has been both appealing and in several respects disorientating with regard to the way science is configured in his work. Deleuzian Intersections (DIs) and The Force of the Virtual (FoV), two overlapping yet in many ways divergent collections, seek to make better sense of Deleuze's concepts and harness them to a number of concerns crisscrossing science, philosophy and the social sciences. DIs brings together contributions from social anthropology and Social & Technology Studies (STS) to address two broad questions: how to understand (a) Deleuze's image and use of science in relation to recent developments in STS; and (b) Deleuze's relation to the social sciences and anthropology in particular. The book's overarching aim is to extrapolate a Deleuzian dialogue with STS and social science, in addition to revisiting classical themes in anthropology in light of this dialogical tension with Deleuze's legacy.
