Whether intended or not, a patchwork quilt of infosecurity solutions has become the design of choice for a great many businesses today. The unfortunate side effect of taking such a jumbled approach to protecting often far-reaching corporate infrastructures is that any notion of scalability is all but lost among the hodgepodge of IT security paraphernalia. Although planning security solutions to fit an expanding or contracting web of systems may be an alien concept to many organizations, it is now starting to gain the attention of some company executives. As the frequency and strength of hacks and viruses grow, and government regulations demand that IT security become a priority, many corporate officers are trying to close the gaps in their environments that inadequate planning and poor products have left behind for a swelling army of cybercriminals to exploit.
