摘要

Would a U.S. military-operated botnet really save the world from cyberwarfare, as an opinion piece in a recent military publication seemed to imply? Not likely. The notion of a botnet inside a military- or government-owned domain makes little sense and there are better ways to protect the U.S. military in cyberspace. At least, that's the opinion of several experts who've analyzed the suggestion made by Col. Charles W. Williamson III in the May 2008 issue of the Armed Forces Journal that the U.S. Air Force (USAF) develop "the ability to carpet bomb in cyberspace to create the deterrent we lack."
