By encouraging pilot projects such as the Online Teaching Academy to enhance the student experience in higher education, Palmetto College took a step toward managing change within the USC system through stimulating experimentation and offering rewards. As Goldstein and Otte (2016) have stated, "Managing change.. .means understanding change and responding to it, seeking opportunities to appropriate and use what is new, to improve what can be reformed and to preserve what must not be lost" (p. 181).
