Just what could happen to individuals not wearing a hard hat is illustrated by some case studies from the Marine Safety Forum (MSC) that promotes safety within the marine sector of the Northern European oil and gas industry. The first example took place last year during the RasGas Expansion Project. A tower crane operator at the beginning of his shift opened the cabin window to begin lifting operations. The window frame parted from the mounting brackets and fell down to the ground approximately 40m below.
