Smart boxes may be getting more practicable as US Customs has now set firm standards for Congressionally mandated container security devices (CSDs). Until the passage of the SAFE Port Act, Customs & Border Protection had been backing away from the CSDs because officials felt that other strategies could be more effective - especially considering technological hurdles in developing the high-tech devices.
