Tighter Antarctic rules

US secretary of state Hillary Clinton has unveiled American plans for new maritime regulation in Antarctic waters and affirmed the Obama administration's support for the Law of the Sea Convention. Addressing the 32nd Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting in Baltimore on 6 April, Clinton disclosed that the US had submitted a proposal to the consultative parties "to extend marine pollution rules".
