While the captain of Maersk Alabama escaped the hijacking of his vessel unharmed, the same could not be said for Florent Lemacon, the 27-year-old French owner and skipper of the yacht Tanit, who died of gunfire wounds in a rescue attempt on 10 April by French commandos.rnLemagon was being held hostage by Somali pirates after his vessel was hijacked on 4 April about 400nm off Ras Hafun, northern Somalia. Two pirates were also killed, but Lemagon's wife Chloee and their three-year-old son were rescued.
