Japan's $2.8M security pledge

Japan is pledging ¥278M ($2.8M) to Malaysia to bolster security in the Malacca Strait. The 'grant-aid provision', as it is termed by the Japanese embassy in Malaysia, is intended to fund anti-smuggling maritime enforcement agencies and help supply better shipping security equipment.
