Ten years since Lalizas rose out of the ashes

This year marks the 10th anniversary of a devastating fire that almost did away with safety equipment manufacturer Lalizas. However, the company has told SASI that the event ultimately strengthened the company despite the losses it suffered.rnOn 23 October 2000 at around 6pm, three executives from Lalizas were leaving the company's HQ at 52 Skilitsi Street, Piraeus. The rest of the company's 70 employees, including CEO and founder Stavros Lalizas, had gone home for the day. The production manager was the last to leave and as he walked away from the building he was stopped by a stranger. "Do you work there?" asked the stranger. "I can see some smoke coming from the roof of that building."
