Crew rescued after attack

NATO confirmed that one of its warships rescued the crew of Pacific Express, a Greek-owned general cargo ship that underwent two pirate assaults. The 22,597dwt vessel was reportedly attacked twice on 20 September, with pirates boarding on the second occasion. The crew retreated to the citadel and could not be dislodged, despite a fire breaking out, NATO said.The Italian warship Andrea Doria responded to Pacific Express's distress call late that night and arrived after the pirates had fled.
