Tankers collide off Malaysia

Indonesian authorities are investigating the cause of a collision between two tankers off Pulau Tioman, Malaysia, that took place on 11 September. Initial reports indicated that the 4,986dwt asphalt carrier Cosmic 10 ran into the 3,159dwt chemical tanker Cendanawati, hitting its bridge and causing the lat-ter's engine room to fill with water, disabling the vessel.Cendanawati's crew members were rescued by a passing vessel before being handed over to the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA). Only the captain sustained minor injuries.
