Crew 'abandoned' in storm survivors allege

Two survivors and the family of a dead crewman are suing Trinity Liftboat Services for gross negligence during a tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico in which four crewmen were killed. Also named as defendants in the lawsuit were offshore marine services companies Geokinetics, based in Houston, and Mermaid Marine, of Western Australia. On 8 September, as tropical storm Nate increased in strength 50nm off the coast of Mexico in the Bay of Campeche, the jack-up liftboat Trinity II collapsed, forcing the 10-strong crew to abandon ship.
