摘要

A routine safety drill led to 20 out of 70 seafarers who took part in it being injured, according to several reports on the incident released in April. The incident took place on 13 November 2012 as Eckero Line fast ferry Finlandia was having one of its four MESs tested at Kopli Harbour in the Estonian capital Tallinn. However, during the drill, several of the participants suffered injuries to their legs and feet after landing at the bottom of the chute at high speed. The injuries ranged from back pain to fractures, according to a report produced by Survitec, the parent company of the Canadian chute manufacturer DBC.
