ISM Code 2014: a reality check

Further to the December 2014 regulatory update regarding the key changes to the ISM Code that became effective in January 2015, it is becoming apparent that some companies have either overlooked these new requirements or simply do not understand exactly what is expected of them. IMO Resolution MSC.353(92), adopted in June 2013, outlined the following changes: 1. The addition to Section 6 at 6.2.2 requires a company to 'ensure that each ship is appro-priately manned in order to encompass all aspects of maintaining safe operations on board'.
