Joint project reveals true costs of injuries

The true costs of slips-, trips-,falls-, and lifting-related injuries has been calculated in the first report of a joint project established between the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), the American Club, and Lamar University. The project was established in 2018. The report found that during 2013-18, out of 8,400 claims, 46% were due to these types of injuries. Excluding claims with no American Club costs, falls cost on average USD182,000, slips cost USD137,000, and lifting incidents cost USD112,000, per event.
