Proving its commitment to public safety and the community, Grand River Mutual Telephone Corp has teamed up with its local Lamoni Iowa Police Department to proactively combat crime. The company installed a 900 MHz system that allows officers to monitor strategically placed security cameras virtually anywhere in the service area. This unique partnership gives officers in this rural area the mobility to patrol an area remotely 24 hours a day from the police station or on the laptops inside their vehicles, as well as the ability to complete required paperwork at the scene of an incident, in the office or at home. A true community champion, Grand River provides one free broadband account to member communities that have a full-time city office. Some communities could use this connection for the security cameras, noted Ron Hinds, Grand River's director of marketing/member relations. For smaller communities, the company offers a discounted broadband service.
