'That Vision Thing —The Key to Sustainable Competitive Advantage

The compelling visions of great leaders in government; industry and science have changed companies, countries and the world. Visions that galvanize people to action and commitment have gotten the human race through "the best of times and the worst of times." Leaders who fail to be visionaries do not remain leaders for long. Not too long ago, a leading Presidential candidate was asked to describe his vision for America. He replied that he didn't understand what was so important about "this vision thing." Some observers suspect that this remark contributed strongly to his subsequent election defeat.
