The technology relates to the use of a Turbo Exchanger device in the leading edge of an aircraft wing, to generate power needed to enable an HLFC (Hybrid Laminar Flow Control) system on the wing. The Turbo Exchanger generates power using engine bleed air. Bleed air is extracted from jet engines of the aircraft after it has been compressed, but prior to entering the combustion chamber. The bleed air has a raised temperature and pressure compared to ambient conditions. The Turbo Exchanger comprises a turbine driven by the hot, high pressure bleed air, which generates shaft power to run a compressor and also generates electrical power. The principle of operation of the Turbo Exchanger is shown in Figure 1.
