Wire Bonded Fusible Link for Voltage Sense Circuit in Interconnect Boards

By utilizing wire bonding, which uses small ultrasonic welds (1) to attach a small wire (2) to a metallic surface, a fusible link can be added to a battery voltage monitoring trace (3) of an Interconnect Board Assembly (4) or equivalent. This eliminates the need to add a separate flex circuit or circuit board in an effort to add a fuse into the voltage sensing system. Not only does this reduce cost but also eliminates the need for soldering and/or riveting, both of which have proven to be challenging processes to control in production.
