An Internet Alliance (IA) panel has issued a guidebook advising e-commerce companies on how to appropriately release consumer information to law enforcement agencies during a criminal investigation. The guidebook on the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) is the initial component in an education campaign by IA's Law Enforcement and Security Council (LESC) to help companies protect consumers' privacy.
