There are few things more celebrated at Renew than the establishment of a new branch, so we are excited to announce the newest addition to our family: the Broome branch! The branch joined Renew in April, and was formedoffthe back of the Kimberley Community Renewables group, which describes itself as "a bunch of Kimberley community members who believe in community-driven solutions for accelerating the renewable transition".The branch is headed by Brendan Renkin, with the support of long-term members Andrew Chambers and Jaye Smoker. While he's a new Renew member, Brendan is a longtime Renew reader-generally from within the air-conditioned comfort of the Broome Library!Brendan has called Broome-located in the Kimberley region of Western Australia-home for a decade. He practised as a commercial and native title lawyer for a decade before moving sideways into mediation, facilitation and program evaluation. And if that's not enough, Brendan is also completing a Masters in Applied Linguistics and writing a thesis on adult language learning of Indigenous Australian languages. He has been described as "a brain for hire when others are too busy to have time for reflective thinking".
