摘要

CiteULike was created by Richard Cameron in November 2004 and he has maintained it privately ever since. He created this website after returning to academia. He believed that collecting material for a bibliography is something that required an amazing amount of drudgery. All the existing options seemed to require too much effort to transfer the citation details for online articles into some sort of permanent storage. Consequently, he decided to create this CiteULike tool for his use as opposed to using existing software.rnCameron decided that the most convenient way to store citation details when reading articles using a web browser is to also use a web browser to store this information. This becomes even more helpful when jointly authoring a paper. There is a point where all the authors need to collaborate and gather all the articles they wish to cite into the one central location. If users are able to do this process collaboratively on a web site, then it is easier.
