摘要

The Borderlands: An Encyclopedia of Culture and Politics on the US-Mexico Divide focuses on much more than the 2,000 mile border that runs from Texas to California in the USA and from Tamaulipas to Baja in Mexico. This work takes a broad view of the area, covering the last 500 years of its history and the slow change from frontier area to modern day borderland. Though in modern times this territory is considered by many to be a dangerous place filled with illegal immigration, drug smuggling, and vigilante activity, editor Andrew G. Wood, an Associate Professor of History at the University of Tulsa, and his contributors offer observations on the region that capably illustrate its social, cultural, and political past.
