In writing this review I have taken advice from a group of Iranian friends, on the grounds that they know far more about the country than me, while trying to bear in mind that they are refugees, members of a religious group which is officially tolerated - I cannot think off-hand of any other country whose constitution specifically states that "Christians [and Jews] will each have a guaranteed place in Parliament" - but in practice feel bitterly persecuted.rnIran is a very important player in modern world politics. It is also a much misunderstood country, with a long and complex history. It is of vital importance to the safety all of us that a greater understanding is reached between Iran and the West.
