The Communication Institute for Online Scholarship is a not-for-profit organization affiliated with the Department of Communication at SUNY-Albany which supports the use of technology "in the service of communication scholarship and education". CIOS was founded in 1986 and is supported primarily through individual and institutional memberships, through publication of The Electronic Journal of Communication, and through subscriptions to its databases such as ComAbstracts and ComVista.
