American Revolutionary War Leaders is similar in coverage to McFarland's earlier publication, American Generals of the Revolutionary War (Broadwater, 2007) (RR 2007/343). This is a larger, more detailed work and shows the author's extensive research to discover information on the wives and families of the subjects.rnThe volume covers the military and political leaders of the American Revolution, including the signers of the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution and some of the colonial governors; but it focuses primarily on the military leaders of the Continental Army, Navy and Marines as well as generals of state militias. American Generals of the Revolutionary War included an appendix listing colonels; but American Revolutionary War Leaders has no entries for officers ranking lower than brigadier general, except for an entry for Captain Seth Baxter.
