This is a book with a clear intention and a mission: to bring together all die factual information on climate change. It is an American book, and addresses the level of opposition and denial that is more prevalent in the US than in Europe. The author describes those who deny the existence of human causes of climate change as "contrarians", although he admits they like to refer to themselves as sceptics. They get an entry in the book (there is no entry for "sceptics see contrarians"). I found the entry revealing and alarming. In addition to the "it will not affect me so why should I bother" approach and those who believe long term climate change is not influenced by human activity to any great extent, there are those that believe it all part of United Nations plots to reduce the power of the US or to undermine capitalism.
