A Dictionary of Chemical Engineering is a new addition to the Oxford Paperback Reference series. The book contains about 3,000 entries covering the wide-ranging chemical engineering vocabulary. It is aimed at those studying engineering at the introductory level, but will also be of use to anyone having contact with chemical engineering. Included are basic concepts, laws and hypothesis in engineering. National and international organisations are covered and there are also bibliographical entries. The bulk of the entries are terms covering the practice of chemical engineering: material and machines. What have been deliberately left out are the terms only used in one particular industry or even one particular company. That still leaves terms from nuclear energy, biotechnology, food and pharmaceutical manufacturing and nanotechnology, as well as those from the more tradition oil and gas technology and bulk chemical production.
