How mad would March Madness be if no one bothered to keep score of all of those games? The field of 64 would never make it down to the excitement of the Final Four because no one would ever know who won the games! Plus, all of the players who work so hard all year just to make it to the tournament would be pretty disappointed if they never knew how far their efforts were getting them. The score shows you how well you're doing and what you're getting out of the efforts that you put in. How about the coach whose job rides on the outcome of his team's performance in the tournament? If no one is keeping score, it's impossible for the coach to make adjustments throughout the game to get the outcome he needs at the end.
