The first issue of 2009 brings articles and reviews on a wide range of topics addressing concepts and practice.rnOn 10 April 20081 heard Nick Barrett, the man behind the early programmes in the -BBC series Who do you think you are?, talk about his latest project called Memorybank at a conference in Edinburgh[1]. This project is about creating archives using new social network systems and is targeting the "Saga" group, as Nick referred to those retired members of the community, and the youth. His presentation was fluent and inspirational with many notable and thought provoking ideas. Amongst them, in the context of the role of historians in appraisal, was his comment "the trick is not to get bogged down by too much material" which is interesting if you have been following the "keep everything" debate.
