Intrinsic Graphics Promises Efficiency and Portability

Michael Jones left SGI (then known as Silicon Graphics) with colleague Remi Arnaud more than a year ago. Jones had headed SGI's Performer Group, and had become intrigued by the idea of a high-level graphics software package that would run efficiently across many platforms. SGI, alas, was not the place to pursue that particular vision. They secured $3 million in venture capital to form Intrinsic Graphics, and after about a year's work are now six months away from releasing their first product.
