Silver Stream Railway 'Little C' turns 124

The Silver Stream Railway, north of Wellington, New Zealand, operates on a short 1.5km stretch of a former part of the Wellington-Wairarapa railway. Ironically, one of the locomotives now operating on the railway was built in 1875, the same year that the original rails were laid. No. C132 was one of a batch of 16 built by Dubs & Co. On completion of its railway service in 1927, the loco was sold for colliery duties where it remained in use until 1971. The 0-4-2ST was then donated to the Silver Stream Railway, where it became known as 'Little C'. The loco was restored to brown livery, but was reliveried in black when it had a starring role in the recent movie 'The Last Samurai' starring Tom Cruise. The Silver Stream Railway operates every Sunday and there is always at least one of its five resident locos in steam.
