In between closing this issue for press and it going on sale is the Nene Valley Railway diesel gala. Neil Boden has, once again, pulled out all the stops to put on a great show. He has worked hard to get the right mix to attract as many punters as possible and I am fairly confident the event will have been a success by the time you read this. In the run-up, Neil has also been hard at work with the line's recently acquired 47270 turning it from an average looking Freightliner machine to a superbly-restored BR blue showpiece. Bufferbeam skirting has been returned, headcode panels reinstated - which for this particular locomotive meant removing the flush end at one end - and no attention to detail has been ignored.
