First German trip for Mercia

UK-based Mercia Charters has advertised its first German railtour, taking in plenty of unusual track and offering haulage by ex-DB locomotives now in private ownership. The 'Return to Grace' runs on April 19 and heads for freight lines in the Ruhr area using motive power from Niederrheinische VerkehrsbetriebeAG (NIAG). The day begins at Koln Deutz and heads to Dieringhausen for a visit to the local railway museum which houses a selection of ex-DB steam, diesel, and electric locomotives.
