There can be a tendency among a few heritage railway volunteers to believe that because they are giving up theirrntime for free, customer service can be compromised. While other railways think that it is okay to rip-off passengers.rnWell, neither is acceptable. The hard-earned cash of any visitor - enthusiast or not - does not just give them access to travel on trains: it gives them the right to be treated courteously and fairly.rnHere are a few horrors from recent weeks. First up, a recent visit to the Swanage Railway for its diesel gala. Once again, with the visiting locos the line-up was mouthwatering. In that respect, the £21 ticket was palatable as I appreciate the cost of getting locos in, and a profit had to be made.
