So, DB Schenker has offered more locos for sale, and among a long list of 52 machines up for grabs, those which caught my eye, understandably, were the seven Class 58s -the first of the class to ever be available to private buyers. (I use the inverted commas for a reason!)rnHistory shows us that they should be given a wide berth from the wallets of preservation groups. Well, they should be if anyone has any sense. I'm not party to the finances of the Class 58 Loco Group, but unless it's awash with cash, it should let the scrappies buy these locos and then hot foot it to the yards to meet the delivery trucks, ready to pick over these carcasses for parts.
