'King' blues as 6023 suffers minor fault

Recently restored blue GWR 'King', 6023 King Edward II has completed its stay at the Mid Norfolk Railway (MNR) and returned to the Great Western Society's base at Didcot Railway Centre. While on the MNR, the 'King' completed 75 full return trips, equating to over 1,800 miles, without problems. Its safety valve bonnet, lost in transit to the line, has yet to be recovered. On return to the GWS, a number of minor faults have been identified that will prevent it taking up its booked gala appearances at the Severn Valley Railway and Great Central Railway galas this autumn.
