Electrification just across the Channel

Electrification (at 25kV AC) on the line from Boulogne to Rang du Fliers on the Cote d'Opale (on the opposite side of the English Channel from Kent and Sussex) was switched on in December. Local trains are now operated by EMUs or electro-diesel Bi-Bi units. High speed regional TER a grande Vitesse services have been introduced between Lille and the Cote d'Opale towns - these trains use the LGV Nord high speed line from Calais Frethun and have been observed operated by the former North of London Eurostar fleet (but unlike TGV services no reservation is required).
