GBRf to buy five Colas Class 66s

GBRf is expecting to expand its fleet by buying outright the five Class 66/8s currently in use with Colas Rail-66841-845. The locos are leased by Colas from Porterbrook on a 'pay as you use' (PAYU) deal and GBRf is in negotiations to undertake a more permanent deal. The locos, which were new in 2003 when leased to DRS (as 66406-410) were returned by the Carlisle operator in 2008 and 66406-409 were initially taken on by Advenza and duly renumbered. 66410 went to GBRf on a PAYU short term lease. When Advenza went bust in 2009, 66843/844 had a short spell with GBRf before all five went to Colas and were duly rebranded.
