'N' gauge now has a 21st Century model of the HST following the release of Dapol's first production versions. In crafting its model, Dapol has made provision for a number of detail revisions to allow the vehicles to be recreated accurately for different periods. The Virgin Trains set contains power cars 43071 (powered) and 43067 (unpowered) and two Mk 3s consisting of a First Open and Tourist Standard Open. Dapol has reproduced the Virgin livery to a high standard; the colours look spot on. The logos, lining and numbers are all fine. The overall look is definitely there and the major dimensions compare accurately. Taking a look in detail at the front, the shape is spot on and there are intricate details which include windscreen wipers and a finely produced head/ tail light cluster. 43071 is standard, but 43067 is modelled with bufferbeam draw gear.
